1 And David1732 consulted3289 with5973 the captains8269 of thousands505 and hundreds,3967 and with every3605 leader.5057

2 And David1732 said559 unto all3605 the congregation6951 of Israel,3478 If518 it seem good2895 unto5921 you, and that it be of4480 the LORD3068 our God,430 let us send7971 abroad6555 unto5921 our brethren251 every where, that are left7604 in all3605 the land776 of Israel,3478 and with5973 them also to the priests3548 and Levites3881 which are in their cities5892 and suburbs,4054 that they may gather themselves6908 unto413 us:

3 And let us bring again5437 853 the ark727 of our God430 to413 us: for3588 we inquired1875 not3808 at it in the days3117 of Saul.7586

4 And all3605 the congregation6951 said559 that they would do6213 so:3651 for3588 the thing1697 was right3474 in the eyes5869 of all3605 the people.5971

5 So David1732 gathered6950 853 all3605 Israel3478 together, from4480 Shihor7883 of Egypt4714 even unto5704 the entering935 of Hemath,2574 to bring935 853 the ark727 of God430 from Kirjath-jearim.4480 7157

6 And David1732 went up,5927 and all3605 Israel,3478 to Baalah,1173 that is, to413 Kirjath-jearim,7157 which834 belonged to Judah,3063 to bring up5927 thence4480 8033 853 the ark727 of God430 the LORD,3068 that dwelleth3427 between the cherubims,3742 whose834 name8034 is called7121 on it.

7 And they carried7392 853 the ark727 of God430 in5921 a new2319 cart5699 out of the house4480 1004 of Abinadab:41 and Uzza5798 and Ahio283 drove5090 the cart.5699

8 And David1732 and all3605 Israel3478 played7832 before6440 God430 with all3605 their might,5797 and with singing,7892 and with harps,3658 and with psalteries,5035 and with timbrels,8596 and with cymbals,4700 and with trumpets.2689

9 And when they came935 unto5704 the threshingfloor1637 of Chidon,3592 Uzza5798 put forth7971 853 his hand3027 to hold270 853 the ark;727 for3588 the oxen1241 stumbled.8058

10 And the anger639 of the LORD3068 was kindled2734 against Uzza,5798 and he smote5221 5921 him, because5921 834 he put7971 his hand3027 to5921 the ark:727 and there8033 he died4191 before6440 God.430

11 And David1732 was displeased,2734 because3588 the LORD3068 had made6555 a breach6556 upon Uzza:5798 wherefore that1931 place4725 is called7121 Perez-uzza6560 to5704 this2088 day.3117

12 And David1732 was afraid3372 853 of God430 that1931 day,3117 saying,559 How1963 shall I bring935 853 the ark727 of God430 home to413 me?

13 So David1732 brought5493 not3808 853 the ark727 home to413 himself to413 the city5892 of David,1732 but carried it aside5186 into413 the house1004 of Obed-edom5654 the Gittite.1663

14 And the ark727 of God430 remained3427 with5973 the family1004 of Obed-edom5654 in his house1004 three7969 months.2320 And the LORD3068 blessed1288 853 the house1004 of Obed-edom,5654 and all3605 that834 he had.

1 AND David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and with all the leaders and governors of Israel.

2 And David said to all the assemblies of Israel, If it seems good to you, let us beseech the LORD our God to repair the breaches of our brethren who reside in all towns of Israel, and settle with them priests and Levites in their cities and suburbs;

3 So that they may gather themselves and come to us, and pray before the LORD our God and beseech him because of our sins; for we did not pray before him in the days of Saul.

4 And all the assemblies said that they would do so.

5 So David gathered all Israel together, from the river of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of the LORD from Koriath-narin.

6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Koriath-narin, which belongs to the tribe of Judah, to bring up from there the ark of the LORD God who dwells upon the high cherubim, which are known by his name.

7 And they placed the ark of the LORD in a new cart, and carried it out of the house of Abinadab; and Uzza and his brothers drove the cart.

8 And David and all Israel played before the LORD with all their might, and with singing and with harps and with psalteries and with cymbals and with timbrels.

9 And when they came to the threshing floor of Remin. Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen ran toward the threshing floor.

10 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him there because he put forth his hand to the ark; and he died there before the ark.

11 And David was displeased because the LORD had smote Uzza; wherefore that place is called Torethadi-Uzza to this day.

12 And David was afraid of the LORD that day, saying. How can I bring the ark of God home to me?

13 So David was unwilling to bring the ark home to the city of David. And David commanded it be carried to the house of Ober-edom the Gittite.

14 And the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Ober-edom the Gittite three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Ober-edom the Gittite and all that he had.
